Questions and answers

  • What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a biodegradable and biocompatible gel that integrates naturally with the dermis, providing hydration and stimulating collagen production.

  • What is it for?

Hyaluronic acid is used to reduce wrinkles and lines, to increase volume, hydration, skin revitalization, and is also used to reduce depressed scars.

  • What does hyaluronic acid application involve?

The procedure involves injecting hyaluronic acid gel using very fine needles or cannulas (blunt-tipped needles) into different layers of the skin, depending on the area being treated and the patient's specific needs. Injectable hyaluronic acid implants work by increasing volume and hydration to facial tissues and restoring facial contours to achieve the desired level of correction. Over time, the skin's enzymes naturally and gradually break down the hyaluronic acid, ensuring a high degree of therapeutic safety.

  • Is the use of hyaluronic acid safe?

Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced in our bodies and is a component of many structures, including skin and cartilage. Specifically in the skin, it provides support, hydration, and volume. Through numerous technological advancements, validated by scientific safety and efficacy studies, a biocompatible and biodegradable hyaluronic acid has been created that lasts longer than natural hyaluronic acid. This allows the product to integrate naturally into the skin and other tissues without causing permanent deformities at the treated sites. Over time, the skin's enzymes naturally and gradually break down the hyaluronic acid, ensuring a high level of therapeutic safety. The hyaluronic acid used in this procedure is FDA and INVIMA registered, and these registrations will be shown to you before the application for your peace of mind.

  • What are the expected benefits?

➤ Support the deep facial structures that have deteriorated over time. ➤ Fill and soften fine and superficial wrinkles. ➤ Improve the appearance of medium and deep facial lines. ➤ Restore volume to the lips, cheekbones, chin, and jawline. ➤ Reduce the appearance of depressed scars. ➤ Improve the overall appearance of the skin.

  • How long do the results last?

The duration of the results depends on the implant density and the specific indication for which it is being used. Each patient's skin condition is different, and therefore the degree of improvement and the duration of the implant's effects vary from patient to patient. ➤ Supportive treatments: 12 to 18 months. ➤ Treatment of scars and superficial wrinkles: 3 to 9 months. ➤ Treatment of lips, medium wrinkles, and deep furrows: 6 to 12 months. ➤ Treatment for volume loss: 9 to 12 months.

  • What will I feel during the procedure?

During the treatment, a local anesthetic cream or injection will be applied to make the application of the product more tolerable. The latest generation hyaluronic acid fillers we use at our medical center already contain a local anesthetic.

  • What reactions are expected after the procedure?

You may experience pain, burning, swelling, redness, or temporary skin discoloration in the treated area. These symptoms will subside within 1 to 3 days after treatment. If bruising or hematoma occurs, it will resolve within approximately one week with the daily application of a lightening cream prescribed by your doctor. You may feel some uneven areas at the injection site while the product integrates fully into the skin. Because hyaluronic acid is malleable, these irregularities will resolve spontaneously within a few days or with gentle massage performed exclusively by your doctor.

  • What care should I take after the treatment?

➤ Strictly follow medical care recommendations regarding the use of dermatological and cosmetic products. ➤ Avoid applying masks or homemade products that have not been recommended or discussed with your doctor. ➤ Apply sunscreen every 4 hours, regardless of sun exposure. ➤ Do not expose yourself to heat, sun, or intense cold for the first 3 days after treatment. ➤ Do not manipulate or massage the treated area. ➤ Avoid direct contact with cold sources such as cold packs or ice. ➤ Avoid sun exposure, outdoor sports activities, tanning beds, excessive sweating, swimming, saunas, or steam rooms on the day of the procedure and the following day, and ideally until the recovery process is complete. ➤ After bathing, pat dry gently, without rubbing. Ideally, use lukewarm water. ➤ You must attend your scheduled appointment with your doctor for a follow-up appointment and photographs.

Your safety comes first!

It's reassuring to know that Hyaluronic acid is fully compatible with the skin, ensuring a safe procedure. It then begins to break down through the action of the body's own enzymes and gradually disappears.

This quality ensures that its application is very reliable and safe, since other "filler" substances, such as silicone and biopolymers, being non-natural, can remain indefinitely in the body causing insoluble nodules, deformities and severe complications.
