Questions and answers
-
How long will it take to see results?
You will notice results within the first 4 to 7 days after treatment. The full effect will be evident after approximately 15 days.
-
How long do the results last?
The treatment inhibits the contraction of the treated muscles for an average of 3 to 4 months. However, the duration of the results may vary from patient to patient.
-
What benefits are obtained with the treatment?
This treatment prevents wrinkles caused by facial expressions from deepening. Its effect is comparable to a "wrinkle saving" for the duration of the product's action.
-
What are the side effects of the treatment?
After treatment, a small bruise, ecchymosis (“bruise”), or mild swelling may appear at the injection sites, which will disappear within a few days. Rarely, facial asymmetries, absence or reduction in the effect of the botulinum toxin, transient swelling of the upper eyelids, ptosis (difficulty raising the upper eyelids), eye sensitivity to light, and mild dry eyes may occur. Less frequently, involvement of other adjacent muscles may occur, which is temporary and reversible. Given the transient nature of the botulinum toxin's effect, the aforementioned conditions are not permanent and, if they occur, are expected to reverse within 4 to 6 weeks or sooner with the use of medications designed to counteract its effects.
-
What are the contraindications of the treatment?
➤Under 18 years of age ➤Pregnant or breastfeeding women ➤Neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, Eaton-Lambert syndrome) ➤Use of anticoagulants ➤Concomitant use of other medications such as lincosamides, magnesium sulfate, aminoglycosides, cyclosporine, D-penicillamine ➤Infection in the area to be treated ➤Use of muscle relaxants
-
Are there any other possibilities or alternative treatments?
Alternative treatments for some wrinkles may include techniques such as hyaluronic acid, laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), radiofrequency, or even surgery, depending on the characteristics of the wrinkles being treated. These treatments can be combined to enhance results and help reduce static wrinkles that are deeply etched into the skin, but not dynamic wrinkles that become visible with facial expressions.
-
What care should be taken after the treatment?
➤Avoid lying down for 4 hours after treatment. ➤Do not touch or massage the treated area. ➤Avoid strenuous physical activity. ➤If you experience a headache, take the pain reliever prescribed by your doctor. ➤Wear sunglasses with UV protection daily and apply lubricating eye drops. ➤If you experience double vision, swelling or drooping of the upper eyelids, difficulty breathing, or difficulty swallowing, consult your doctor immediately.
